Seymour was born under the official name Cassel, Seymour Joseph on January 22nd, 1935. He has been a credited actor since the 1977 film Valentino.

Seymour has made such a successful career in supporting roles, that it actually surpasses most leading actor's careers. He has appeared in twenty-eight films including: the 2014 family film Lucky Dog as the character The Real Spencer, the 2014 action movie The Algerian playing Professor Wright and the 2011 action release Freerunner cast as Gramps.

His most commercially successful project to date has been the 1993 drama film Indecent Proposal, which brought in $107,000,000 at the box office.

As an actor Seymour Cassel has been recognized by the Academy of Motion Pictures Art and Sciences on one occasion. He was nominated for the Oscar for Best Actor In A Supporting Role for his role as Chet in the 1968 movie Faces.
