Robert was born on April 14th, 1961. Known to his close friends as Bobby, he has been a credited actor since the 1994 film Being Human.

Robert Carlyle is a dependable leading actor. He has starred in three films including the 2009 action film The Tournament as the character Father MacAvoy, the 2005 action movie Dead Fish playing Danny Devine and the 1997 comedy release The Full Monty cast as Gaz.

Robert has made such a successful career in supporting roles, that it actually surpasses most leading actor's careers. He has appeared in ten films including: the 2006 action film Eragon as the character Durza, the 2005 comedy movie Marilyn Hotchkiss' Ballroom Dancing & Charm School playing Frank Keane and the 2001 action release To End All Wars cast as Maj. Ian Campbell.

His most commercially successful project to date has been the 1999 action film The World Is Not Enough, which brought in $127,000,000 at the box office.

Beyond acting, Robert Carlyle was the director of the 2015 movie comedy The Legend of Barney Thomson.
