Michael was born under the official name Nyqvist, Rolf Åke Mikael on November 8th, 1960. Known to his close friends as Micke, he has been a credited actor since the 2007 film The Black Pimpernel.

Michael Nyqvist has yet to establish a position as a bankable star. He has starred in two films including the 2009 crime movie Män som hatar kvinnor as the character Mikael Blomkvist and the 2007 drama film The Black Pimpernel playing Harald Edelstam.

Michael is a recognizable supporting cast member who's acting range makes him the top choice for a variety of roles. He has appeared in six films including: the 2015 drama film The Girl King as the character Axel Oxenstierna, the 2014 action movie John Wick playing Viggo Tarasov and the 2011 action release Abduction cast as Nikola Kozlow.

His most commercially successful project to date has been the 2011 action film Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, which brought in $209,000,000 at the box office.
