Martin was born under the official name Short, Martin Hayter on March 26th, 1950. Known to his close friends as Marty, he has been a credited actor since the 1986 film ¡Three Amigos!.

Martin Short has yet to establish a position as a bankable star. He has starred in two films including the 1995 adventure movie The Pebble and the Penguin as the character Hubie and the 1991 comedy film Pure Luck playing Eugene Proctor.
