John was born under the official name Hurt, John Vincent on January 22nd, 1940. He has been a credited actor since the 1966 film A Man for All Seasons.

John Hurt is a dependable leading actor. He has starred in three films including the 1998 drama film Night Train as the character Michael Poole, the 1990 drama movie Roger Corman's Frankenstein Unbound playing Buchanan and the 1969 adventure release Sinful Davey cast as Davey Haggart.

John has made such a successful career in supporting roles, that it actually surpasses most leading actor's careers. He has appeared in thirty-one films including: the 2014 action film Hercules as the character Lord Cotys, the 2013 drama movie Only Lovers Left Alive playing Marlowe and the 2013 action release Snowpiercer cast as Gilliam.

His most commercially successful project to date has been the 2011 adventure film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, which brought in $381,000,000 at the box office.

John has garnered moderate media attention, having been interviewed in over four publications and featured in eight magazine articles.

As an actor John Hurt has been recognized by the Academy of Motion Pictures Art and Sciences on two occasions. His first nomination was for Best Actor In A Supporting Role for his portrayal of Max in the 1978 film Midnight Express. John Hurt was also nominated for Best Actor In A Leading Role for his role as John Merrick in the 1980 movie The Elephant Man .
