Hector has made such a successful career in supporting roles, that it actually surpasses most leading actor's careers. He has appeared in sixteen films including: the 2014 adventure film The Book of Life as the character Carlos Sanchez, the 2010 comedy movie Valentine's Day playing Edgar and the 2007 comedy release Georgia Rule cast as Izzy.

His most commercially successful project to date has been the 1990 comedy film Pretty Woman, which brought in $178,000,000 at the box office.

In 2006 Hector Elizondo produced his first movie, the comedy film I-See-You.Com.
