Gene was born under the official name Kelly, Eugene Curran on August 23rd, 1912. He died on February 2nd, 1996 in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California, USA (complications from two strokes). He has been a credited actor since the 1943 film Du Barry Was a Lady.

Gene Kelly was a bankable leading actor on the silver screen. He has starred in eight films including the 1956 animation film Invitation to the Dance as the character The Marine in 'Ring Around the Rosy', the 1956 animation movie Invitation to the Dance playing Sinbad in 'Sinbad the Sailor' and the 1956 animation release Invitation to the Dance cast as The Clown in 'Circus'.

Gene has made such a successful career in supporting roles, that it actually surpasses most leading actor's careers. He has appeared in thirteen films including: the 1994 documentary film That's Entertainment! III as the character Himself - Co-Host, the 1994 documentary movie That's Entertainment! III playing Narrator and the 1980 fantasy release Xanadu cast as Danny McGuire.

His most commercially successful project to date has been the 1969 comedy film Hello, Dolly!, which brought in $33,000,000 at the box office.

Gene Kelly has directed on numerous occassions including: On the Town (1949), Singin' in the Rain (1952) and It's Always Fair Weather (1955).

Gene is a fan favorite, having been featured on the cover of at least one magazines, captured in more than three pictorials, interviewed in over one publications and featured in eight magazine articles. He has been the subject of at least six books. He has been the subject of at least three biographical films.
