Gary was born under the official name Busey, William Gary on June 29th, 1944. Known to his close friends as Barry Goosey, he has been a credited actor since the 1974 film Thunderbolt and Lightfoot.

Gary Busey is a dependable leading actor. He has starred in three films including the 2006 drama film Descansos as the character The Keeper, the 1988 action movie Bulletproof playing Frank McBain and the 1985 adventure release Silver Bullet cast as Uncle Red.

Gary has made such a successful career in supporting roles, that it actually surpasses most leading actor's careers. He has appeared in twenty films including: the 2007 action film Blizhniy Boy: The Ultimate Fighter as the character Wizard, the 2006 comedy movie Shut Up and Shoot! playing Bob Katz and the 2006 action release Soft Target cast as John Rouse.

His most commercially successful project to date has been the 1993 drama film The Firm, which brought in $158,000,000 at the box office.

As an actor Gary Busey has been recognized by the Academy of Motion Pictures Art and Sciences on one occasion. He was nominated for the Oscar for Best Actor In A Leading Role for his role as Buddy Holly in the 1978 movie The Buddy Holly Story.
