Elias was born on March 11th, 1961. He has been a credited actor since the 1988 film Tucker: The Man and His Dream.

To date, Elias has only starred in the 1998 drama movie Divorce: A Contemporary Western. Elias Koteas has yet to establish a position as a bankable star.

Elias has made such a successful career in supporting roles, that it actually surpasses most leading actor's careers. He has appeared in twenty-five films including: the 2011 biography film Winnie as the character De Vries, the 2011 drama movie Dream House playing Boyce and the 2010 drama release Let Me In cast as The Policeman.

His most commercially successful project to date has been the 1990 action film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which brought in $135,000,000 at the box office.
