Ed was born under the official name Harris, Edward Allen on November 28th, 1950. He has been a credited actor since the 1980 film Borderline.

Ed Harris is a bankable leading actor on the silver screen. He has starred in eight films including the 2013 thriller film Sweetwater as the character Sheriff Jackson, the 2013 history movie Phantom playing Demi and the 2011 comedy release That's What I Am cast as Mr. Simon.

Ed has made such a successful career in supporting roles, that it actually surpasses most leading actor's careers. He has appeared in thirty-one films including: the 2014 adventure film Planes: Fire & Rescue as the character Blade Ranger, the 2013 sci-fi movie Gravity playing Mission Control and the 2013 action release Snowpiercer cast as Wilford.

His most commercially successful project to date has been the 2013 sci-fi film Gravity, which brought in $274,000,000 at the box office.

Beyond acting, Ed Harris was the director of the 2000 movie biography Pollock. In 2000 Ed Harris produced his first movie, the biography film Pollock.

Ed is a fan favorite, having been featured on the cover of at least five magazines, captured in more than three pictorials, interviewed in over four publications and featured in nine magazine articles.

As an actor Ed Harris has been recognized by the Academy of Motion Pictures Art and Sciences on four occasions. His first nomination was for Best Actor In A Supporting Role for his portrayal of Gene Kranz in the 1995 film Apollo 13. Ed Harris was also nominated for Best Actor In A Supporting Role for his role as Christof in the 1998 movie The Truman Show , Best Actor In A Leading Role for his role as Jackson Pollock in the 2000 movie Pollock and Best Actor In A Supporting Role for his role as Richard Brown in the 2002 movie The Hours .
