Dudley was born under the official name Moore, Dudley Stuart John on April 19th, 1935. He died on March 27th, 2002 in Plainfield, New Jersey, USA (pneumonia). Known to his close friends as Cuddly Dudley, he has been a credited actor since the 1981 film Arthur.

Dudley Moore was a dependable leading actor. He has starred in three films including the 1985 adventure film Santa Claus as the character Patch, the 1984 comedy movie Best Defense playing Wylie Cooper and the 1981 comedy release Arthur cast as Arthur Bach.

His most commercially successful project to date has been the 1981 comedy film Arthur, which brought in $89,000,000 at the box office.

Dudley is a fan favorite, having been featured on the cover of at least five magazines, captured in more than four pictorials, interviewed in over two publications and featured in nineteen magazine articles. He has been the subject of at least two books.

As an actor Dudley Moore has been recognized by the Academy of Motion Pictures Art and Sciences on one occasion. He was nominated for the Oscar for Best Actor In A Leading Role for his role as Arthur Bach in the 1981 movie Arthur.
