Derek was born under the official name Jacobi, Derek George on October 22nd, 1938. He has been a credited actor since the 1982 film The Secret of NIMH.

Derek Jacobi has yet to establish a position as a bankable star. He has starred in two films including the 1989 action movie Henry V as the character Chorus and the 1982 animation film The Secret of NIMH playing Nicodemus.

Derek has made such a successful career in supporting roles, that it actually surpasses most leading actor's careers. He has appeared in ten films including: the 2011 biography film There Be Dragons as the character Honorio Soto, the 2011 action movie Ironclad playing Baron Reginald de Cornhill and the 2010 biography release The King's Speech cast as Archbishop Cosmo Lang.

His most commercially successful project to date has been the 2000 action film Gladiator, which brought in $188,000,000 at the box office.

Derek has stayed out of the media limelight, having been interviewed in over two publications and featured in one magazine article.
