David was born under the official name Strathairn, David Russell on January 26th, 1949. He has been a credited actor since the 1986 film At Close Range.

David Strathairn has yet to establish a position as a bankable star. He has starred in two films including the 2006 drama movie The Sensation of Sight as the character Finn and the 2002 drama film Blue Car playing Auster.

David has made such a successful career in supporting roles, that it actually surpasses most leading actor's careers.
