Dan was born under the official name Aykroyd, Daniel Edward on July 1st, 1952. Known to his close friends as Danny, he has been a credited actor since the 1979 film 1941.

Dan Aykroyd is a bankable leading actor on the silver screen. He has starred in nine films including the 2013 animation film Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return as the character Scarecrow, the 2010 adventure movie Yogi Bear playing Yogi Bear and the 1991 drama release My Girl cast as Harry Sultenfuss.
