Benicio was born under the official name Del Toro, Benicio Monserrate Rafael Sanchez on February 19th, 1967. Known to his close friends as Beno, he has been a credited actor since the 1989 film Licence to Kill.

Benicio Del Toro has yet to establish a position as a bankable star. He has starred in two films including the 2013 drama movie Jimmy P. as the character Jimmy Picard and the 2000 crime film Traffic playing Javier Rodriguez.

Benicio has made such a successful career in supporting roles, that it actually surpasses most leading actor's careers. He has appeared in nineteen films including: the 2014 action film Guardians of the Galaxy as the character The Collector, the 2012 crime movie Savages playing Lado and the 2010 drama release The Wolfman cast as Lawrence Talbot.

In 2008 Benicio Del Toro produced his first movie, the biography film Che: Part One. Since then he went on to produce three movies including: Che: Part Two (2008) and The Wolfman (2010) .
